- The US Dollar had a strong day versus the Japanese Yen Tuesday as it neared 100 to the dollar. In early European trading the dollar was at 98.91 yen, down 0.4 percent, while the euro was down 0.25 percent on the day at 128.93 yen.
- European equity markets rose in early trading, as investors hoped for more accommodating monetary policy from China. r U.S. firm Alcoa posted solid earnings.
- Alcoa Inc (AA.N), the largest U.S. aluminum producer, reported an increase in quarterly profit and lower concerns about corporate results in the first quarter of 2013.
