Training and deploying frontier AI models requires infrastructure on a scale rarely seen in the technology industry. Every new generation of models demands larger GPU clusters, higher electricity consumption, faster networking and additional hyperscale data centers.
Alphabet has already increased its capital spending plans this year as AI demand continues to accelerate. Those investments pushed the company into its first negative free cash flow quarter, despite continued revenue and earnings growth.
